Ta-Da!

18 12 2009

There’s two weeks left till the holiday ends and guess what? I’m dreading the light at the end of the tunnel. This is mainly because I’m already accustomed to this certain routine I have which has no chance of being held on to once lessons commence. Did I mention that we do not even have tuition classes for this month? A whole month to myself..ending..sigh.

I don’t really watch television much but this Taiwanese series happen to have snagged my attention. Watched it once. Was kinda enthralled by the plot. Missed a couple of episodes. Managed to watch another installment only to learn that it was the final one. Can’t blame me for living up to my pathetic-ness..lol. Those people do have style by the way. There’s this guy who looks like Legolas. Just a little brawny.

Have been going to the library. Joined by Adlan and Yan Kee. It opens only at 10 but since my dad has to be in his clinic at 9.00 and thanks to the fact that I’m not allowed to roll on four wheels yet, I get sent there at approximately 8.30. So what I do is to take strolls down to the Kopitiam, order a drink and wallow myself in Biology.. :P

The other day I was a little amused by this conversation I overheard. I wasn’t eavesdropping by the way. The guy was blaring his vocals giving me no choice but to tune my frequency into his channel. These were two men who looked like pensioners (they were aged and how else can you explain why they are so free) and they were discussing social issues mainly on the involvement of youngsters. Their intonation and flare clearly depicts the fact that they really have things against teenagers.

Uncle A : Eh Yong, kids nowadays ar, they tend to waste their parent’s hard-earned cash. I see my nephews and nieces. They keep asking their father for money. And not small amounts some more. Have to give la. If not, they will kill you.

Uncle B : Yeah. Most youngsters nowadays are very violent. They know you have money, they take it – with or without your permission. You stand in their way, they sapu your insurance as well. Terrible days.

Uncle A : What we have to do is to pretend to be poor. They ask for ten ringgit, we give them only two. If not we’re gone.

LOL!

Saw Phang Kean Mun, Tick Yau, Hong Wai and the Traffic Exco whose name I think is Wai Kit. Hehe..sorry. They were trying out some Olympiad Maths questions. I tried a few. You really need lots of neurones to be able to solve them. I rather save them for Biology.. :)

Then there’s this uncle who frequents the library in the afternoon. He looks like a professional. Pressed long-sleeves with slick back-combed hair. I first noticed him on Tuesday when he walked past me carrying some SPM reference books looking very serious. I was a little fascinated and allowed my eyes to follow him only to see him form a pile to rest his head on as he dozed off.

On Wednesday, the same thing happened just that we were ‘treated’ to some music. The guy apparently needed something to lull him to sleep. Weird thing was his type of lullaby. They sounded like those propoganda-like theme songs they play before comic superhero shows.

And guess what? Though we were occupying a table of substantial distance from his, the songs were audible. We couldn’t help but notice that he had earphones plugged into his ears. Hence the assumption that the guy forgot to plug in his earphone jack into his walkman. I don’t know about you guys, but I really do think he’s cool.  Plan to strike a conversation with him if I do see him next week.. :D

Something to think about. Do giraffes have lightning-earthing system? Their height in the African savanna makes them really vulnerable to being electri-fried. Hmm..

And I’ve suddenly got this urge to make Madam Kwan proud of me. It’s not going to be easy..sigh.

Signing out before this post gets any longer. Cheerio!

Aftershocks

8 12 2009

A week has passed and yet it seems like it was only yesterday when we were in Penang, having the time of our lives. There simply isn’t any word to describe the trip. So much so that goings-on are still rampant with my inbox at the verge of exploding each time I log into my MSN account and comments galore at pictures posted up on Facebook.

Many have done superb tasks in blogging accounts on the trip with respect to date and time that I feel it would be a redundant effort if I were to do the same. Therefore, I shall blog mainly on how I felt, the experiences of a first-timer. A pathetic first-timer to be more precise. Below is a checklist of happenings. I hope I didn’t missed out any. This post might be threateningly lengthy and your patience is very much appreciated.. :)

Crossing of the bridge and arrival in Penang Island. Weng Hong just had to make an announcement in the bus that it was my first time in the island. Thank God I had a partner-in-patheticness in the form of Bubu :P The ride there was smooth. Had wonderful conversations. Including one with our outpost hornbill in Kuching. And yeah, my pair of Weinbrenner’s received it’s christening..hahax.

Penang War Museum. Located in Batu Maung, the fort facing the open sea was built by the British, taken-over by the Japanese and re-occupied by the Brits. We were exposed to many cruel things. Human lives were treated with disregard by captors. Wadahell la. All the while, I was thanking God that my loved ones and me weren’t born during that era. One of the attractions there was a long range cannon which can fire shells with a range of 30 km. If only we could fit somebody inside it..hehe.. There was also this so very dark tunnel. Btw, I hate war.

Stella Maris and the BEACH. After lunch in some food court ( I tried hai lam chicken rice! Thank you.. :) ), we travelled in the chartered bus to our stayplace-Stella Maris beach resort. Lol! Was kidding about the beach resort part. Never mind. We were split into our appartments and were allowed to wander. And I saw the beach..the glorious sound of waves splashing against the shore. Gosh, everything was perfect.. Some pictures were taken there.

Youth Park cam-whoring. After some rest, we left for Penang Youth Park where our groups were assigned to capture images of a list of given themes. We had fun improvising..matrix-inspired scene transformed into a ’sakai’-inspired scene. And so much for levitating. Not forgetting the football fan poses. Lol. And just after our final group photo, it poured. We were all practically soaked. Felt a little helpless then. Drenched as we were, it was dinner at New World!

First Dinner. We had our dinner in a food court sort of area within the premises of New World. Had some noodle dish (sorry, can’t remember the name). Witnessed those guys making their own potpourri. Since we had more than enough time, it was ‘lepak’ for us. Till we eventually got bored. Was funny to see little Wei Han getting all amused at the Guardian’s door sensor. And yeah, we saw a clown. Sigh..

PnW, Fun and More Fun..Memorable Night. Arrival in Stella Maris, clean-up, Praise and Worship led by Sarah and Yiwen. Mr. Edwin then shared a little about Danny eating too much to drown his sorrows..lol. We played this game. Stranded on an island. Things you really need. Was figuring out how a lens can reflect light onto planes passing by without burning the pilot’s retina. Then again, lenses are not opaque. Walked over to a nearby hawker centre for supper after that. Wanthon noodles!

Played some sort of card game which is not at all recommended for folks with faulty heart valves. Trust me on this one. I was, as usual, the grand loser. Lol. Chubbs hijacked our bedroom. He had the air-conditioner all to himself. And the sound of his snore.. Then we spoke. And spoke. It was very very nice standing there speaking to you.. :) Won’t forget that night.. Can never.. Bade goodnight or rather good morning at around 2.30. We guys had to settle for the chairs in the hall of our appartment..

Devotion and Splash. Woke up the next morning, got cleaned. Had devotion. Guided by Mr. Chee Khoon. There was this dumb crow wreaking ceaseless squacks all through. Thank God hornbills aren’t like that.. Can you touch the tip of your nose with your tongue? Interesting. Breakfast. And those guys started their antics. Should have listened to you. Sorry. Was chased all around Stella Maris, caught, forced to change, dragged and dumped into the sea. Swt.. Was fun though..

Toy Museum vs Chocolate Boutique. Visited the supposedly largest toy museum in the world. Probably it’s the only one of its kind. Walked around it for like 5 times. Saw a very adorable Stitch there.. :D Was nice walking with Wei Han towards the end. And then, the choc shop. It was some kind of showroom with chocolate boxes and ridiculous price tags. Lol. I ‘tried’ a piece of choc. Not bad lea..wished I had more of those when I was growing up.

Queensbaby Mall. Hahax. The ‘baby’ there is just for fun. Had problems deciding a venue for lunch before settling for Sakae Sushi. Tried wasabi paste. Could feel it creeping up my nose. Hahax. Walked around. Received scary text messages. Hehe. Had Baskin’ Robbins. First time. Swt. Was introduced to Hotel Room. Lol! All in all, we spent some very quality time there. Yeahh..

Bukit Tambun Seafood. To follow-up our late lunch, we had an early dinner. Seafood. Makes no difference to this seafood-allergic moron though.. Saw a dumb floating crocodile. Had fun crushing crab shells. Hahax. Tried a little crab meat-the succulent tender flesh. Enough to tingle my taste buds but not sufficient to cause allergy symptoms. No wonder people go ga-ga over seafood.

Hopped onto the bus, bade goodbye to Mr. Chee Khoon and set off on our journey back home. Rats. Was feeling very very sorry then. Plus I had this really mixed feeling. The Tinder Box. Lol! Thank God everything worked out well..amen.

So there, my account on the trip. It’s kind of lame though, compared to others. Probably its due to the fact that it’s long and erm, I wanna go there again!!

Thank you to all who made this trip a success. Thank you especially for showing me Penang. Hahax. God bless you all..

Belated Thanksgiving..

30 11 2009

Holla readers! Lol. I’m making this sound a little too corny. Anyway, it’s the second Monday into the year-end holidays and here I am, posting my first entry of the holidays. Well, I needed time to adapt, right? Hahax. Stuffs have been great so far. We had a couple of meetings in the MYC to finalise details of the Penang excursion we would be embarking on tomorrow (yeahh..!!)

Happy Thanksgiving by the way. Belated though it is. Thought it would be best to wish although I’m pretty sure you circle of readers are not from among those who celebrate this holiday anyway. Just in case there are some among you who might in the future settle in someplace where Thanksgiving is local, let this be an advanced wish to you. Save me the greeting cards and not to mention the postage..lol.

Coming to think of it, we all do have things to be thankful for in many ways whether we do realise it or not. I know I do. And I’m very very thankful.. :P

Watched a movie yesterday. New Moon. Well, I wouldn’t really call that a movie seeing the way the plot went. This may very well be in contrast of the review I posted in Hubpages. I had to win the readers there..made me sound very hypocritical that. Anyway, it was an excellent excellent trip to the mall initiated spontaneously by none other than my awesome psychologist.. :)  For the record, ‘we’ consist of Kay Lynn, Sok Wai, Yee San, Sarah, Weng Hong and me.

Was supposed to go to the library today but I had to cancel my rendezvous with Mr. Adlan when I was told last night that some men were to be fixing the fish pond the next morning and I was expected to ‘hang around’. So much for ‘hanging around’. I did learn a couple of things though..like you can’t really use tar on cement and  that epoxy paint would make an excellent waterproof finishing.

By the way, did you know that Thanksgiving is always celebrated on the last Thursday of each November. That’s when they send turkeys to heaven by the millions.. :D So kind..

And so, within the next twenty-four hours, I would be in Penang for the first time in my life (Dad says I’ve been there before when I was very little but I can’t recall. Guess that doesn’t count) with loads  of really nice people and a couple of erm, okay ones as well.. Pray for good weather ya and journey mercy.

To all Penangites..brace for impact!!

I’m out..

Overdue Post..

19 11 2009

Holla people. Like mentioned in earlier posts, I needed time to gather resources and to dispel traces of laziness. And yup, here you go. My account of the recently organised Camper’s Badge camp.

After much planning and praying, the organisers and participants began arriving in the vicinity of the MYC before 8 a.m. The participants were then ‘treated’ to a theory exam prepared by some dumbass : ) Couldn’t help but to notice some of them sniggering away while answering. Some of them even came up to me after the test enquiring the identity of the dumbass. I plead the Fifth Ammendment.

A spot check was then held. I had to penalise a guy for bringing extra water by draining the excess. It wasn’t a good feeling actually but well, some things have to be done. They were warned beforehand. The first convoy left soon after further briefings. Since we Primers were to embark on the 2nd convoy, we headed over to the badminton hall for a noodle break..

Saw Guhen btw. The guy who blew RM50 k on his Indonesian dream.

The van driven by Mr. Edwin abandoned us in the town of Pusing and we had to make our way to the campsite, which believe me, is not anywhere near. So, we trekked. Thank God for Mr. Liew and his senses when he offered to help us transport our luggage over. Must treat him one day. Min Jiet’s breakfast? Hahax.

Arrived in the fly-infested area, changed, had lunch, visited tents among others. It started to pour cats and dogs soon after and those poor participants were forced to cook under the rain.

I love cooking in the rain because nobody can see I’m crying. What an emo bunch. LOL!

After making sure members of the two groups assigned to me had had their meal and ensuring there were no casualties to food poisoning, we had our dinner. A very very big thank you to Kay Lynn and Yiwen who laboured to prepare our meal. Very nice of you. Thanks a lot. Somehow, I’m still very much disturbed when someone said that cooking was the task of a particular gender only. Male chauvinist.

After setting aflame a pile of wood (we might have done the old man there a favour) as our campfire, we sat beneath our shelter admiring the dancing flames. Had sketch performances after that. Ultraman visited. Kah Woh’s group won. Testimony that 1.5 litres of water can indeed by luxurious in times like these..

That night was particularly nice. Had lots to talk about while waiting for the heavily disoriented Morse Code message to arrive at our tents. Thank you very much.. :)  Upon task completion, we crashed. Was assigned by Lt. Chee Koon to raise the flag by six the next morning which I think was an honour considering where I came from and my background.

After freshening up in the morning and a short stint of morning exercise, we had breakfast. Thank you again. And yeah, I was appointed the official fly-chaser. Lol. Had a brief meeting with other officers before proceeding with evaluation of knots, campsite and adherence to the country code. Another event where I had to play mean. I used to be good at this.

While messing around with the camera, we were told that we were anticipating special guests. Dr. Ting appeared. In bright yellow boots. He brought along with him a friend, who was very good in saying long prayers. And so, after lunch, we set back on the trail leading to civilisation. It seemed a longer walk than the day before. Perhaps, our luggage made it seem that way. Arrived at an eatery where we had a quick gulp and boarded a pre-chartered bus back to MYC.

Overall the camp was a success. Everybody survived. Lol. Spent lots of quality time too. First major outing for us Primers. Thank God for it for without Him, nothing would have been possible.

16 11 2009

Hey people..I don’t think I’ll be mentioning much about the Camper’s Badge Camp in this post. Still recovering from the trauma inflicted upon me by those darned flies and mosquitoes..lol. Perhaps in one of my upcoming posts. Sorry to keep you guys waiting..I’ll try and make it a worthwhile read as much as I can.

Yupp..school today was good. Wished it were like this everyday. No losers polluting the corridors. The beautiful prefects had little problems with their duties. And the weather. The oh-so-lovely weather.. Indications I’m spending a little too much time than I should on Yeats’ literatery pieces.

Started the day with a microphone-less assembly. Electricians on strike? Helped Pn. Valar a little while in preparing the examination classes. We had no lessons today save the four-period Maths Marathon. It was okay though, since she hardly picked any of us to go up front and answer her questions.

I was complaining while retrieving foolscap sheets for Maths when Kavin told me he didn’t mind since he gets his supply from Tesco. Economical.. ‘Useless paper for useless subject’, said he.

Pn. Kwan just had to remind us how ‘long’ our holiday actually is. When she mentioned five to six weeks,  I felt happy at first. Then a little worried wondering whether or not I would have enough time to work on my plans. Should be able to I guess, since I’m filled to the brim with inspiration.. More happy than worried though..yup.

Spent some quality time during the free periods.. :) Talking about the structure of the skin. Malphigian, granulosum, corneum, God knows what’s next. Lol! Bio terms may be killers sometimes, but..I happen to know someone who has got an affinity for the Bio reference book =P

Hung out in the canteen after school with Cheng Fei – the loser who listed himself for the Prefect interview just because he was free after school on Thursday and Her Royal Lameness, the  monitor of 6RE when we were joined by Chubbs.

All in all, today went great. Thanks to Him and you. Blue flare coming right up. Lol..

Tis’ the season to be merry.

Tralalalala lalalala :P

Wake Up Call..

15 11 2009

Okay, so where did we stop last? Lol.

One very common thing I notice many people ( me included at times ) tend to say too often is that they feel time is passing faster than it used to. The old me would have dismissed the idea without a second thought. Well, time is after all an independent entity which relies on no other factor.

Now though, along with maturity ( I hope ) and some thought, I think that people who say that are generally those who have not made full use of the time they have at their disposal. Everybody’s day is constituted of 24 hours. No more and no less. If there are those who can accomplish wonders, it makes me wonder why we can’t join the league.

I’m not excluding myself from these seemingly libellous claim. I myself am guilty of procastinating. One thing leads to another and you’ll find yourself with a huge pile of stuffs to attend to even before you can say ‘Potato Stinks’. The only thing worse than this is to have such an even to occur when you are most preoccupied.

So what did I do? I pointed fingers at simply all parties, except myself, in attempts to console myself that things are still okay. Well, the hard truth is you can’t change many things because they are beyond our control alone but the one thing we can most definitely change is our attitude towards them.

This is not a prep talk cum testimony or whatever else you might want to call it. In my point of view, at least.. :P  I pray that this is the last time I’m knocking my head saying, ‘wake up or suffer the consequences’ because I hope I will never lapse in performance again. The best is out there to be achieved. It’s up to us whether we want to go the extra mile to secure them or not.

And being inspired right now ( and till the end ) by my so very awesome psychologist, I’ll strive to do my best. Thank you! Phoenix from the ashes. There’s no better time than now.

For our campaign. Our future. We’ll do great. I truly mean it this time.. :)

God bless us always..awesome..

Happy Halloween!

31 10 2009

Holla people.. The term ‘frequent’ took a nosedive today.. :)

Woke up quite early this morning. Did some calculus before refreshing my memory on Boys’ Brigade facts. Rested a short while after that, showered and left for MYC.

For the first time, I marched during Company Parade. Or rather, I messed up during Company Parade. Lol. Potato told me to clutch my notebook with my right hand. Now, when one marches, it’s the left leg and right hand first. In short, I somehow got disorientated and screwed up. In dire need of  more practice. I’m sorry..

There was no Singspiration today but we Primers had our own worship session before CE class in the board room. Worship was fine..yupp. CE too. Mr. Edwin spoke about being good leaders and setting good examples. He indulged us with a plan of his for the 2010 session and asked us stuffs which we think are relevant to be scrutinised for discussions then. We shared opinions.

I still think financial management is a very important issue and should be highlighted. It’s not wrong to be a spendthrift. It’s also not wrong to splash money on things. Especially those you really adore and love. What we should realise is the time and event where doing either one is the more appropriate course of action.

We discussed the Penang trip after that. Things should be okay. I just realised that since we’ll be returning late on Wednesday night, I’ll be missing my Chemistry tuition and since the Thursday class is supposed to be more jam-packed, I don’t think I’ll be able to be served a replacement class. Can I bring my Chemistry materials to Penang?

Our Membership Recognition Award exam followed. I think those of us who went through the provided notes and references would find the paper within reasonable standards. All of us passed. I knew you would do great.. The best part was the look on Chubbs’ face when Wei Kang was announcing the results. Lol.

By the way, the Girls’ Brigade from MGS were in the MYC this morning. They were rehearsing for the Guard of Honour for next week I think. Was tormented with thoughts of spending a night with Chubbs in Penang. Hahax. And then we dismissed. Yeap, I marched again..sigh. Got a couple of stuffs from the Company Store before potato chaffeured me home..

Drafted a plan this afternoon on chapters and subjects to cover within the next couple of months. Lots of improvising can be done. It’s only a draft after all. Our campaign is going good.. We’ve got wind in the sails..yeahh.

So, the joint X’mas Celebration is next week. Hope stuffs will go great. Worry not ya. You’ll do great..I know it.. :P

Going to go read up some Bio now. Will update my blog whenever I can. Won’t be lazy anymore.. Hahax.

Signing out..

You Fill Up My Senses..

29 10 2009

You fill up my senses like a night in a forest

Like the mountains in springtime, like a walk in the rain

Like a storm in the desert, like a sleepy blue ocean

You fill up my senses come fill me again.

The stanza above is an excerpt from John Denver’s ‘Annie’s Song’. The song which is currently playing in my head. How true.. :P

Firstly, I would like to apologise for not posting new entries lately. It’s just that many things have happened during the span of the past one month resulting in me not being able to go online that often.

It started off with my pc crashing. It was sent to the store and while waiting for the folks in Megamate to attend to it, Dad bought a new pc. With a router which wasn’t really doing its job well in its first few days. It has improved since. And then there was the inevitable part of each student’s life-exams. We had our final-term examinations.

I think in average, I did okay..and when I say this, I am NOT including Mathermatics. That is a subject I really need more time to work on. Will do better the next time around. What with all the time at my disposal in the upcoming school break, I have little excuse to mess up again.

Enough said about exams. Let’s talk about today..which went great. With beautiful people around me, how can I say otherwise :) We had a listening routine during our MUET period. Pn. Susila wanted some guy by the name of Justin to man the radio. Don’t know why I went up instead. It was a little frightening-to sit in front the whole class doing what that Justin idiot was supposed to do. Lol. It all went well though..thank you..yupp.

Hmm..had lunch after school. Yeahh..hahax. Watched a very nice badminton game..spoke and spoke and spoke :P And later, bumped into Wei Han who was later joined by Min Junn. Talked some more..hehe. Then it started raining..we know why..my ringtone’s fault for having such a hard-to-remember name. Lol.

While waiting for dad, I made friends with this Upper Six guy. He’s got less that a month to go and he looks darn tensed up. Wish him all the best.

Upon reaching home, it rained some more. Nice for crashing..hehe. Which I think I’m about to do now. I’ll keep updating this blog as frequent as I can. Let’s hope my take on ‘frequent’ isn’t much different that the much accepted one.

Until then..

Decaffeinated

3 10 2009

Holla people. Been attending school since last week. Don’t think there’ll be another long holiday before the really long one at year’s end. Gearing up for the final examinations which is due to be held beginning the 20th this month up till the following Thursday. Things are pretty hectic actually with all the rushing to keep to my schedule to cover certain chapters by a certain time and all.

Truth be told though, it could be much more pressurising if not for the wonderful people around me.. :P

And yeah, I’ve finally kicked the habit. Stopped consuming coffee in a while already. I’ll use the word ‘consuming’ because the main objective of me gushing this beverage down my throat is merely for its sleep-depressing effects. There were days when I would brew extra-strong ones. So strong that it’ll keep me up awake for hours on the end. It’s good in a way, gives one more hours to his or her day but to compromise on sleep isn’t something advisable, especially for people our age.

Can’t remember myself drinking coffee as a kid. Labelled it as ‘big people’s medicine’ because I see my dad drinking loads of it. Hahax. I would wait intently for somebody to offer me that so that I can refuse. Lol! That doesn’t happen a lot though. Nobody gives any attention to small kids until one day when these kids grow up and begin giving these people jobs. One day.. So Hong, when we give you attention, better appreciate it ya..

The temptation is still there though. When I attend Chemistry tuition classes which ends quite late, I’ll head over to the nearby convenience store together with the guys during recess where Chia Wei would purchase a can of mocha latte’ which I have to say no to when offered. Proud to actually. Have to take more care of myself.. Don’t want to add more damage to what’s done already through years of coffee-ing.

It’s been a couple of weeks already. Since Raya actually :) Thank you! Planning to be coffee-free for 3 months first afterwhich I suppose occasional drinks would do no harm. Well, we shall see how things work out.

I have more stuffs to blog about. The exam timetable which is due to be out anytime soon, the project the ELDS is undertaking ( from the root word ‘undertaker’ ) under the supervision of their ever non-compliant, incompetent president, among others. Guess I’ll blog about these in forthcoming entries.

Until then..
